A Training Meeting was held on 3 February 2026 within the scope of the EU Partnership for Local Climate Action in Türkiye Project, implemented under the EU–Türkiye Climate Change Grant Programme and co-funded by the European Union. The meeting was organized in an online format and brought together grant beneficiaries and key stakeholders.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of Project Implementation of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye, the Directorate of Climate Change, and UNDP Türkiye.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Mehmet Yunus İNAN, Head of the Department of Project Preparation and Monitoring, speaking on behalf of the Contracting Authority, emphasized that the infrastructure and capacity-building projects implemented to date under the IPA Environment Programme have made significant contributions to Türkiye’s alignment with the EU acquis and to the achievement of tangible results at the local level. Noting that a more strategic and target-oriented approach has been adopted in the IPA III period, Mr. İnan stated that 25 grant contracts have been signed under this grant programme, officially marking the start of the implementation phase, with approximately EUR 15 million in grants supported through the joint financing of the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye. He also underlined that full compliance with contractual provisions, timely written communication, and the proper fulfillment of reporting and visibility obligations are of critical importance for the successful and smooth implementation of the projects.

Following the opening session, participants were informed in detail about the grant contract framework, including special conditions, general conditions, and annexes. The implementation process of grant projects was also discussed, with a particular focus on potential challenges that may be encountered in practice and possible solutions.

In the afternoon session, a comprehensive Questions and Answers segment was conducted by the Contracting Authority of Grants and UNDP Türkiye, during which questions submitted prior to the meeting were addressed, followed by a live Q&A session with participants.

The meeting concluded with a closing session, highlighting key points and reinforcing the importance of effective and compliant implementation of grant projects under the programme.

The training meeting served as a clear, informative, and useful platform for grant beneficiaries, shedding light on the implementation process; the knowledge gained is expected to contribute to the compliant and effective implementation of the projects.
