| ABOUT THE PROJECT | The project aims to enhance Türkiye’s resilience against disasters by strengthening disaster management systems at national and local levels, improving inter‑institutional cooperation, and increasing preparedness and response capacity for natural and climate‑related disasters. In this context, baseline studies and gap analyses regarding existing disaster resilience capacity will be conducted; guidelines, standards, and action plans related to disaster management will be prepared. The project also supports international cooperation within a framework aligned with the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and the Sendai Principles.
Through training programmes, workshops, and awareness‑raising activities to be implemented under the project, the technical and administrative capacity of AFAD’s central and local organisations will be strengthened, more effective cooperation with AFAD stakeholders will be established, and the capacity of local administrations in disaster management and disaster‑resilient cities will be increased. As a result of these efforts, public awareness and stakeholder participation in disaster risk reduction will be enhanced, and Türkiye’s disaster resilience activities will be further aligned with international standards and best practices. |
