Mr. Mehmet Yunus İnan, Head of the Project Preparation and Monitoring Department of the Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and accompanying Ministry experts conducted a monitoring visit to Hakkari on 27–28 October 2026. On the first day, the delegation met with Mr. Cengiz Adıgüzel, Hakkari Provincial Director of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and the Director of the Solid Waste Management Union, followed by inspections at the project site. On 28 October, Mr. Mehmet Yunus İnan, Mr. Dırbaz Büyüksu, Mayor of Esendere and representative of the Hakkari Municipalities and Special Provincial Administration Solid Waste Management Union, and the accompanying delegation paid an official visit to Mr. İbrahim Taşyapan, Governor of Hakkari and Acting Mayor. During the meeting, also attended by Mr. Cengiz Adıgüzel and the Director of the Solid Waste Management Union, participants reviewed the current status of the IPA II-funded project and discussed measures to safely restore the integrated solid waste management system following the landslide in April 2026.
