As part of the “Building a Disaster Resilient Türkiye” project, the 4th Action Coordination Unit Meeting was held in a hybrid format on 12 May 2026, hosted by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
The meeting was attended by Mr. Akif TÜRKEL, Sector Manager at the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye; Ms. Esra HACIALİOĞLU, Head of the International Projects Working Group under the Department of Foreign Relations of the Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD); Mr. Güven SEYDİOĞLU, Contract Manager from the Project Implementation Department of the Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change; as well as representatives of the contractor company.
During the opening session, the importance of the activities carried out in line with the overall objectives of the project was emphasized, followed by a brief introduction to the purpose of the meeting. Subsequently, the activities completed during the inception phase were discussed. In this context, views and evaluations regarding the draft Inception Report were shared, and recommendations were presented for the further improvement of the report based on stakeholder contributions.
In the continuation of the meeting, the activities planned for the implementation phase were discussed in detail. Comprehensive information was provided on the ongoing and planned activities aimed at optimizing AFAD’s operational capacity, strengthening stakeholder capacity and cooperation, and enhancing collaboration with the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
In addition, the activities planned for the upcoming six-month period were shared with the participants, and the importance of ensuring their effective and coordinated implementation was underlined.
